EN: Challhöchi is a mountain pass between the cantons of Basel-Country and Solothurn at an altitude of 848 meters above sea level.
The road connects the towns Eptingen with Ifenthal and Hägendorf. The road is single track and is rarely used by vehicles. This pass always only had regional importance since it is close to the Lower Hauenstein Pass, which was the main Jura transition until the 19th century.
The Challhöchi is not to be confused with the Challpass which also connects the cantons Solothurn and Basel-Land, but is about 30 kilometers to the west.
DE: Challhöchi ist ein Pass zwischen den Kantonen Basel-Landschaft und Solothurn auf einer Höhe von 848 Metern über Meer.
Die Strasse verbindet die Gemeinden Eptingen mit Ifenthal und Hägendorf. Die Strasse ist einspurig und wird kaum von Fahrzeugen benutzt. Dieser Pass hatte immer nur regionale Bedeutung, da er nahe beim Unteren Hauensteinpass liegt, der bis ins 19. Jahrhundert der wichtigste Juraübergang war.
Die Challhöchi ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Challpass, der ebenfalls die Kantone Solothurn und Basel-Landschaft verbindet, aber etwa 30 Kilometer westlich liegt.
