It looks upside down, but, to those of us that are Irish, it is right. The red represents the British. The Green represents the Irish. John Ryan was the first to request that they hang the light Green on top. It happened for a short time and then the Government stepped in and made them change the light back. A group of people now called the Stone Throwers, threw stones at the light until it need replacement. After several traffic lights were replaced, the residents of Tipperary Hill approached the City of Syracuse and requested that the light be reversed and stay that way.
There are only a very few of these country wide and one is here in your Back yard. Come and see it, and see the pride that the Tipperary Hill Irish have in there Traffic light. The Stone Throwers original group was Jocko Behan, Richie Britt, James "Duke" Coffee, Patrick "Packy" Corbett, Kenny Davis, George Dorsey, Mickis Murphy, Stuggs Short and Eugene Thompson.
