The Pokagon Nature Center is a very busy stopping point for many visitors at Pokagon State Park. For years their interpretive staff have offered free public programs that both enlighten and entertain folks of all ages.
The Nature Center itself has many displays on the resources around the park. They include the lakes of Pokagon, the CCC history, the Native American history, the animals found, and the plants in bloom.
Live cold-blooded animals can be seen inside. They include frogs, salamanders, snakes, rattlesnakes, turtles, and many insects being seen, depending on the season.
Their hours vary by season. During the summer they are open everyday 10am to 5pm. Switching to 1pm to 5pm weekdays and 10am to 5pm weekends in the spring and fall, and finally being closed Mondays and Tuesdays in the winter. No visit to Pokagon is complete without a stop inside the Nature Center!
