Die Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig vom 16. bis 19. Oktober 1813 (
visit link) war die Entscheidungsschlacht der Befreiungskriege. Napoleon musste sich am Ende mit seinen übrig gebliebenen Verbündeten zurückziehen.
Rund um das großflächige Schlachtfeld gab es mehrere Feld-Lazarette. Ein Museum in Seifertshain erinnert heute an die Arbeit der Ärzte und Chirurgen in diesem Krieg.
Das Schloss Güldengossa diente als ein solches Lazarette während der Kampfhandlungen im Süden von Leipzig. Direkt nördlich von Güldengossa tobte die direkte Ausseinandersetzung zwischen Napoleon und der böhmischen Armee unter Karl Philipp zu Schwarzenberg.

The Battle of Nations near Leipzig (from 16. to 19. October 1813) (
visit link) was the battle of decision of the Wars of Liberation. In the end Napoleon had to withdraw with his remaining allies.
Around the large battlefield there were several field hospitals. A museum in 'Seifertshain' remembered today to the work of the physicians and surgeons in this war.
The Güldengossa castle served as one such field hospitals during the fighting in the south of Leipzig. Directly north of Güldengossa Napoleon fought against the Bohemian army of Karl Philipp zu Schwarzenberg.
