The museum documents the prehistoric, classical, and medieval human settlement here. It also has a rich collection of dauno - peucezi vases painted with geometric designs dating back to IV - III century BC , from the tombs of Cannae. On display are bronze and amber ornaments, ceramics, inscriptions, and coins from the Byzantine period. Under the protection of the Archaeological Superintendence of Puglia, it offers a whole range of artifacts, evidence of the settlements on the banks of Ofanto river beginning with the Neolithic period. The preserved remains bear witness to the historical stages of the cannese population during the Bronze Age, a rather refined period that leads to the republican age into its incorporation with the town of Canosa.

Exhibits are in Italian but I do believe audioguides are available in different languages.
