This road got famous because of the many deadly accidents that used to happen here, and was known as the "death road" or "the world's most dangerous road".

Nowadays there is a new road used by the car traffic and this old mountain road is used for biking.

Most of the people ride it with an agency (there are many in La Paz), they provide the bikes and all the necessary gear, as well as guide, transportation and food. Prices are usually between 40-80$USD, depending on the type of bike and the agency. To access the trail an additional fee of about 4$USD will be asked by the managing entity.

The trail has about 70km in total, and at least 60km is a descent. It starts at the top of the mountain at 4700m and ends at 1100m in the village of Yolos. On the way one can find different kinds of weather, varying from rainy and sunny. Many waterfalls, and amazing views.
