Golden Gate Park Segway Rentals has been operating since January, 2008. They claim to be San Francisco’s only rental (non-tour) operator.

Golden Gate Park Segway Rentals is located two block north of Golden Gate Park on Balboa Street at at 32st Avenue. People who rent here primarily tour through Golden Gate Park. Several nice pathways through out the park are available for segway’ers.
They will give you a short quick lesson if you desire, but they say most people catch on in just a few minutes. They’ve had customers ranging from 7 to 70.
You can rent for overnight and take it back to your hotel room. They give you the cord for charging overnight.
If you have a group and really want a tour, they will go out with you, but that’s generally not their business model.
