Steigt man von der Pfarrkirche in nördlicher Richtung in die Altstadt hinab, so gelangt man auf den Platz des 1. Mai, dem einstigen Hauptplatz von Piran, der Ende des 18. Jhs. angelegt wurde. Das Barockensemble besteht aus zwei Brunnen, zu denen eine breite Treppe hinaufführt. Sie wird von zwei Frauenfiguren flankiert, die die Personifizierung von Gesetz und Gerechtigkeit
