About the Place:
On the bridge, you can stand in 3 places at once! U.S. interstate 95 uses this bridge to get over the Potomac River. To the west, you can see The Washington Monument, The Capital, and the Lincoln memorial. The sign features a cardinal, the state bird and an icon, sitting on a willow tree branch. It is place about 15 feet above the freeway. There is a walkway on the west side of the bridge if you want to get up close. This Virginia welcome sign is located on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, near Washington D.C.
About the Person:
Woodrow Wilson was the 28th president of the United States. He is the one that got us into World War One. Wilson also helped with peace conferences with other government officials in ended the war. For that, he is considered one of the best Presidents of the 20th century. He is buried at the Washington National Cathedral in nearby Washington DC.
