The plaque reads:
Lived here from 1953 to 1961 an average of 350 Ambonese.

Various barracks, a school, an infirmary, church, kitchen, canteen and a water pump.
Halfway through the polder is the grove Dollard Süd (popularly: Ambonezenbosje). Here stood from 1940 to 1942, barracks for the mud workers. Between 1942 and 1945 there was the German Batterie Dollard Süd (4 guns, one of 16 batteries for the air defense of Emden, destroyed in the night of 24 to April 25 in the liberation of Delfzijl).
Between 1945 and 1950 was an internment camp for NSB established headed by the notorious former policeman J.A. Evaporators, who was sentenced to 10 months in prison in 1950 because of ill-treatment of prisoners (stabbing lit cigarettes on the cheek) and inhuman confinement methods (hands in a log clips). For that reason, the camp was closed. According to NSB Van der Vaart Smit were three men have died from abuse in the camp, but the reliability of his statement is not clear.
Between 1945 and 1948 there was a barracks for the mud workers.
Between 1953 and 1961, the camp was used for the temporary relief of about 300 Ambonese. After their departure to the Moluccan districts of Appingedam and Foxhol was demolished the camp in 1962 and the grove created by the Farm East Groningen, which it sold in 1992 to the owner of the farm Carel Coenraadpolder 2.
Between 1993 and 1995 the former ammunition depot was converted into a holiday home. In 2006, a memorial to the Ambonese was placed in the grove, which is accessible only after consultation with the owners.
