This bridge was once used for vehicular traffic through the town of Charlotte, IA. When the beams started to get rusted and thin, it was deamed unsafe and the road was closed. A few years ago a trail was placed through the park where the old bridge stands. It was decided that the truss frame was still strong enough to support a pedestrian covered bridge.
