Das Fliegermuseum hat der Gemeinde eine «Vampire» geschenkt.Beim Flugzeug handelt es sich um eine DeHavilland DH-100 Mk.6 Vampire. Die Maschine hatte, obschon sie nur militärisch im Einsatz war (1951 bis 1991), auch eine zivile Zulassung. Letzmals war die «Vampire» am 5. März 1991 in der Luft, als sie von Emmen nach Altenrhein geflogen wurde. Das seit 16 Jahren bestehende Fliegermuseum hatte die «Vampire» von ihrem Gründungspräsident Hans Peter Köstli geschenkt bekommen.
Installiert ist das Flugzeug auf einem Dreibein schwebend in 7,5 m Höhe über dem Kreisverkehr .................

Wikipedia tells us at (visit link) that in 1946 the Swiss Air Force purchase a first batch of DH-100's (J-1001 to J-1004):

"The second batch was 100 DH-100 Mk.6 (J-1101 to J-1200) built under licence by the Swiss aviation industry. In use from 1951 to 1974 and in storage until 1988."
