It arose in the context of international sculptors meetings that take place in the form of sculpture symposiums at the suggestion of two Slovenian artists, Janez Jakob Savinšek and Lenassi since 1961st In forty years of uninterrupted activity sculptors have paid from 30 different countries to the waterfront and thus the Slovenian cultural treasury over 120 stone sculptures, of which the majority of the Mediterranean park, the Seca peninsula and a small part is placed in the parks of Koper, Izola and Piran.
Besides the exhibition of natural stone sculptures in Portorož, the other three thematically related exhibition places can be visited: Kostanjevica na Krki - wood, Ravne na Koroškem -Metall and Maribor - concrete.

Forma viva, diese einzigartige Ausstellung von Steinskulpturen im Freien hat ihren festen Platz in der Parkanlage auf der Halbinsel Seca gegenüber von Portorož.
Sie entstand im Rahmen internationaler Bildhauertreffen, die in Form von Bildhauersymposien auf Anregung von zwei slowenischen Künstlern, Jakob Savinšek und Janez Lenassi seit 1961 stattfinden. In vierzig Jahren ununterbrochener Tätigkeit haben Bildhauer aus 30 verschiedenen Ländern der Küstengegend und somit dem slowenischen Kulturfundus mehr als 120 Steinskulpturen geschenkt, davon ist der überwiegende Teil im mediterranen Park der Halbinsel Seca und ein kleiner Teil in den Parkanlagen von Koper, Izola und Piran aufgestellt.
