The Ranakpur temple is renowed for its marvelous architecture which makes it a famous tourist site. There are a number of beautiful and delicately carved sculptures in this shrine which defy comparison.

Jainism belongs to the sramana tradition and is one of the oldest Indian religions. It prescribes a path of non-injury towards all living beings. Followers of Jainism are called Jains and must observe five major vows. Self-discipline and asceticism are thus major focuses of Jainism. "The function of souls is to help one another" is the motto of Jainism.

The sign reads: Important notice for ladies - You are requested not enter in the temple during menses period. Please maintain sanctity to the temple.

What I find funny with this sign is that Jainism seems to give a lot of power to women in believing that if they enter a temple during their menstruation, they will endangered the temple sanctity.
