In Portsmouth, in the building occupied by Hampton Inn, is the Green Elephant Vegetarian Bistro and Bar.

The restaurant is located along Deer Street, a short block northeast from the intersection with Maplewood Avenue. The entrance is at a corner.

The interior is modern-designed, with mostly wood. On one wall is a profile of an elephant with different colored-stained wood strips.

"Green Elephant Vegetarian Bistro was created in 2007 and opened as Portland’s premier haven for mindful dining. Established by chefs and owners Dan Sriprasert and Bob Wongsaichua, the Green Elephant offers to its friends and patrons a degree of culinary balance that is often elusive in today’s world; compassion and indulgence, health and gratification, food for vegetarians and carnivores alike.

The inspiration for our food began in Thailand and grew to include many Asian influences as Dan and Bob sought to bring a spirit of equality and inclusiveness to their menu. No borders.
