This is a gorgeous park in Buchanan, Michigan. The Memorial contains the names of all the people (48 total) from the area who lost their lives in WW1, WW2, Korea and VietNam. It was initially sponsored by the local VFW and American Legion, but rapidly grew to an outstanding all-community effort.
The memorial is the former logo stone for the headquarters of Clark Equipment Company and is made of granite. It is 6 feet high by 16 feet long.
The back of the stone contains an emblem for each of the five branches of the US Military. It was dedicated before an overflow crowd on Memorial Day, May 27, 1996.
The Plaza itself includes a barrier-free walkway, two granite benches, two flagpoles, dusk-to-dawn lighting and distinctive landscaping.
The park behind it is an excellent place to bike, walk, or sit and have lunch and feed the ducks and geese.
