EN: This former mechanism of a lock gate is on display at the entrance to the Parc des eaux vives in Huningue.
The canal was built in the early 19th century and opened for traffic in 1831. The machine on display was built in 1933 and in operation until the canal was closed in 1962. The abandoned structure was dismantled in 1991 when the artificial whitewater park was created and put back on display in 1998.
The translation of the plaque:
"Mechanism of the downstream gate of the lock No. 1
erected in 1933 and disassembled in 1991
on the occasion of the completion of the Whitewater Park
put on display in August 1998"
FR: Cet ancien mécanisme d'une porte d'écluse est sur l'affichage à l'entrée du parc des eaux vives à Huningue.
Le canal a été construit au début du 19ème siècle et ouvert à la circulation en 1831. La machine en exposition a été construit en 1933 et était en opération jusqu'à ce que le canal a été fermé en 1962. La structure abandonnée a été démantelé en 1991, lorsque l'artificiel parc des eaux vives a été créé, la machine était remis en exposition en 1998.
