The farmhouse you see today was once the site of a priory that was built in the 1300's and destroyed in the 'Dissolution of the Monasteries' by Henry VIII. The farmhouse was built in 1584 using some of the priory’s stone work and was occupied up until 1988 before it became a derelict building and has been damaged by fire in the 1990’s and early 2000.

The reason the farm house is still there is because it is of 'Special Architectural Interest' and 'Historic interest' meaning it is a grade II listed building.

It is also the first of its type in the UK!
