This ferris wheel is located in Playland, an amusement park that originally opened in 1910. In 1928, an 18-metre ferris wheel was installed in the park. This wheel would operate for almost 80 years until being replaced by the new Westcoast Wheel in 2007. Standing 27 metres high, the million-dollar Westcoast Wheel has 5000 lights and 16 cars. The new wheel can take six passengers per car, compared to only two on the old wheel.
