Dewsbury Country Park
The Dewsbury Country Park was opened in 2012 and was created on an old landfill site. The site has been grassed over and footpaths and cycle routes laid out, some of which have a hard surface. In addition it is also being planted with a large number of trees to form the biggest new wood in the North of England. It is one of 60 Jubilee Woods being planted throughout the UK to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

Dewsbury Country Park is 188 acres and the wood will take up 101 acres. As at 2013 39000 trees had been planted.

The bridge
This bridge is in the south eastern corner of the park, close to an entrance to the park at Park Road.

It's not clear whether this bridge was originally an access road to the landfill site, but currently the track carries National Cycle Route 66 across Spen Beck, which was opened before the park. It connects to the Spen Valey Greenway on the eastern side of the park, a 'rails to trails' cycle and pedestrian route that opened in 2001 and is also part of route 66. Although called a cycle route these national trails are also for walkers and some like this one for horse riders and wheel chairs.

There is also small footbridge next to this bridge.
