This factory was built in 1843 to supply the city gas supplied lighting by Verdier, contractor, on behalf of a Paris, Blanchet. Verdier pays rent to the latter. The concierge and office which is adjacent to it probably date of the establishment of the institution. The property then passed into the hands of Julius Larchier, Baron de Courcelles. In 1857, it belongs to Charles Duval, who yields to the French Company for the gas industry, whose headquarters are in Paris. Two gasometers, now destroyed, were built between 1885 and 1911.

Cette usine est édifiée en 1843 pour fournir le gaz alimentant l'éclairage de ville, par Verdier, entrepreneur, pour le compte d'un parisien, Blanchet. Verdier paie un loyer à ce dernier. La conciergerie et le bureau qui lui est contigu datent vraisemblablement de l'implantation de l'établissement. La propriété passe ensuite aux mains de Jules Larchier, baron de Courcelles. En 1857, elle appartient à Charles Duval, qui la cède à la Compagnie française pour l'industrie du gaz, dont le siège se trouve à Paris. Deux gazomètres, aujourd'hui détruits, sont construits entre 1885 et 1911.
