Monument dedicated to the men of the Royal Canadian Regiment who served during the South African Campaigns. The names of two members of the Regiment from PEI are inscribed on a separate marker.
Ptes Roland Taylor and Alfred Riggs both died during the Battle of Paardeburg, fought between the 18th and 27th February, 1900.
The main marker reads:
TO THE MEN OF
THE ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT
Who by their valour and efficiency
have made manifest to the world
Canada's ability and willingness to share
with the motherland the duties
and responsibilities of Empire.
This monument is dedicated by
their grateful countrymen.
