In Groton, within the Groton State Forest, is this sign by an old gravel pit that is about managing forests for wildlife.
The place is located in an area accessible by walking. The trail that we used was the Peacham Bog Loop, starting at the parking lot by the nature center, then walking on the Little Loop Trail to the Peacham Bog Loop. There is a fire road that leads to the quarry and sign, but I don't believe that it is publicly accessible. The sign is located close to the road.
The sign has pictures of an American Woodcock, as well as a species of warbler, turtle and bobcat as species that like similar habitats. There is also text that explains how the state forest staff has done some strip clearing where stripes were cut in the forest to create habitats of grass and brush land that are favorable to them.
