In Peacham, within the Groton State Forest is the Peacham Bog Loop, which includes a section that has a boardwalk through a large bog
The boardwalk is located in a remote section of the state forest and is along a 5 mile loop called the Peacham Bog Loop. The trail is located off another trail, which can be accessed from a trailhead by the nature center on the north end of Groton Lake - find/download a map before you go. The terrain is moderately rugged, where you travel over a ridge before reaching the bog.
The bog is fully within a biologically protected area - STAY ON THE TRAIL AND BOARDWALK AND DON'T PICK ANYTHING!
The boardwalk is made of sections of planks placed up to four across and end to end. There is a through section that is about 400 ft long and a spur section that goes further into the bog about 200 ft long.
Approximate boardwalk length (feet): 600
What is the boardwalk over?: The boardwalk is over a large black spruce bog.
