By decision of 25 Germinal Year XII (April 15, 1804), the Municipal Council of Niort grants the Consistory, which had made her request, free use to exercise Protestant worship, the portion of the Church of the Cordeliers that was the subject of a donation: June 21, 1800, the Cruvelier citizen, merchant, had acquired the whole of the Cordeliers convent, sold as national property. On October 26, 1800, he made free transfer to the town of Niort (which was accepted by the citizen Brisson, Mayor) of the building of the erstwhile church of the Cordeliers. The inauguration of the temple took place on 14 Fructidor Year XIII (1 September 1805).
