The Lake Altaussee (also Altausseersee) is an alpine lake in the Styrian Salzkammergut in Austria. It lies in the nature reserve Altaussee.

The lake is surrounded in the north and east of the Dead Mountains foothills. Situated on the western shore is the village Altaussee. The catchment area of the lake is 54 square kilometers and is located entirely in the Dead Mountains. It is drained by the Altausseer Traun, one of the three headwaters of the Traun.
The shores of Lake Altaussee are virtually unspoilt. A attractive promenade which often frees glances into the Dead Mountains and the Dachstein Massif, leads around the lake.
