Henryk Sienkiewicz, recipient of the Légion d'Honneur, polish journalist and novelist, was born 5 May 1846 in Wola Okrzejska, a village in the eastern Polish. In September 1858 he began his education in Warsaw. In 1905 received Doctor Honoris Causa of the Jagiellonian University. In 1905 he won a Nobel Prize for his lifetime achievements. Sienkiewicz died on 15 November 1916, at the Grand Hotel du Lac in Vevey, Switzerland.
His best known works: "Trylogy", "Quo vadis", "Without dogma".

At the same place in y. 1901-1945 was located a monument of Otto von Bismarck.
