ABOUT THE MONUMENT:

"The monument was designed by sculptor Stinius Fredriksen, commissioned by the Philharmonic Company in honor of the composer Johan Svendsen. The monument was unveiled on Johan Svendsen's 100th birthday on 29 September 1940. (Translated from Danish)

The monument was completed and unveiled in the city centre of Oslo in 1940, and consists of a base of granite and a statue made out of marble. This monument has been standing outdoors since 1940, with the exception of four years from 1976-80 when it was stored indoors, and then moved to its current position by the concert hall in Oslo in 1980."
