The park lies between the River Calder and the Rochdale Canal. It is approximately the size of two soccer pitches.
The eastern half of the park is actually used for a soccer pitch, whereas the western end is a more formal park, with flower beds and areas of well kept mown grass.
Near to the River Calder are war memorials for both the First and Second World Wars. Separating the formal part of the park and the soccer area is an older covered seated area donated in 1933, not long after the park first opened.
There is a small children's play area in the park.
A Calderdale Council sign near to the entrance of the park gives details of which areas of the park can be used for off leash dogs.
The majority of the park can be used for off leash dogs, apart from the children's play area. Dogs are still allowed in the play area, but must be kept on a lead.
