This dovecote is constructed of what appears to be teak wood, a very beautiful and durable wood for outdoor applications. The wood panels, as well as the orangish color of the wood panels inset into a dark brown frame, give it a very modern aesthetic.

The Square de la Roquette where the dovecote is located is in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. A prison was built on this site in 1825 and it was in operation until 1973. The prison was demolished in 1974 and the Square de la Roquette was built. The square provides a lovely and quiet green space inside the bustling city of Paris, and is a perfect location for the dovecote.
