Lion's Den is one of four abandoned communities around the Town of Fogo on Fogo Island. Absolutely nothing remains - all buildings were moved by boat or floated to other communities.

Lion's Den is one of four abandoned communities around the Town of Fogo on Fogo Island. Absolutely nothing remains - all buildings were moved by boat or floated to other communities.

The settlement was established around 1836 by fishers looking for good waters to do their work. That year, the Census shows 22 people in four families. They produced 76 bushels of potatoes and 15 quintals of fish.

In 1935, 35 people lived here in 9 families. It was abandoned soon after 1935.
