This weathervane is on a dovecote just below the Cefn Mawr sandstone Viaduct, built by Thomas Brassey in 1848 to carry the Shrewsbury and Chester railway across the valley of the River Dee.
The dovecote carries a plaque with this inscription:
Erected in memory of
L/Cpl Wayne J. Edwards Eddie
Royal Welch Fusiliers
who was killed on
U.N. Peacekeeping duties
With the Cheshire Regiment
in Bosnia
on 13th January 1993
