This is an abandoned mine along the trail leading to Twin Sisters Lakes, Tumac Mt. and also the Pacific Crest trail. We found this while geocaching in this area known for its copper mining. Make sure to bring bug spray because this area is pretty buggy until the fall.

To get to the mine you will have to leave the trail. You'll go down an incline and cross a small creek. Continue up and over the steep hillside on the opposite side of the creek. The mine tunnel is on the back side of this ridge. If you look down the hill from the mine you'll see an abandoned mine sled. The mine is full of water now so you won't be able to do any spelunking.

Consider continuing on the trail a bit to the Twin Sisters Lakes. It's a very beautiful area in the William O. Douglas Wilderness Area. Be sure to register at the trailhead before you start out.

The trailhead and parking area can be found at N46 45.149 W121 21.683. There is free camping (with a NW Forest Pass) at the trailhead. A forest pass is required to park at the trailhead. Horses and other pack animals are allowed on this trail.
