Watonga is the boyhood home of Clarence Nash, the voice of Walt Disney's cartoon character Donald Duck. A street in Watonga has been named in his honor. This former home, built in 1909, is located at 803 N. Noble Street. The three-bedroom home is currently owned by a family who is willing to be contacted during the daytime with questions about Clarence Nash. There is a log book to sign. Born on December 7, 1904, Clarence Nash was an actor, appearing in The Three Cabelleros in 1944, Mickey and the Beanstalk in 1947 and Mickey's Christmas Carol in 1983 - among others. He was Disney's voice for Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, and the nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie. He also voiced for several other Disney characters. He passed away on February 20, 1985 in California of leukemia.

"Donald Duck talk, formally called buccal speech, is an alaryngeal form of vocalization which uses the inner cheek to produce sound rather than the larynx. The speech is most closely associated with the Disney cartoon character Donald Duck whose voice was created and performed by voice actor Clarence Nash, and by Tony Anselmo after Nash's death in 1985.
"Nash discovered buccal speech while trying to mimic his pet goat Mary. In his days before Disney, Nash performed in vaudeville shows where he often spoke in his "nervous baby goat" voice. Later when he auditioned at Walt Disney Productions, Walt Disney interpreted Nash's voice as that of a duck, at which point the idea for Donald Duck came about."
