Vierhouten is a village in the municipality Nunspeet, in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located on the Veluwe, between Elspeet, Nunspeet and Vaassen. Vierhouten has 711 inhabitants (1 January 2007).

Vierhouten was formerly Four Holten. The name would refer to the four forests that surround the village. This would then Vierhouterbos, the Vreebos, the Elspeterbos and Gortelsebos. Doubts about the truth of this theory, but this explanation of the name Vierhouten is the most common.

Another theory is that the name would come from the family Nunspeter Four Holt (later Vierhout). They used to have apparently many lands in the place where now lies Vierhouten.
