François Mitterrand, President of the French Republic from 1981 to 1995, was born August 26, 1916 at No. 22 of the Abel Guy Street, in a typically Charente. Very attached to his birthplace, he stayed regularly in Jarnac with his siblings.

Through the living rooms of the house, furniture and objects kept here for four generations, the visit of the garden and "cooperage" (exhibition hall), is the story of his childhood and his family that is discovered.

François Mitterrand, Président de la République Française de 1981 à 1995, est né le 26 août 1916 au n° 22 de la rue Abel Guy, dans une maison typiquement charentaise. Très attaché à sa Maison Natale, il séjournait régulièrement à Jarnac en compagnie de ses frères et soeurs.

A travers les pièces à vivre de cette maison, les meubles et objets conservés ici depuis quatre générations, la visite du jardin et de "la tonnellerie" (salle d'exposition), c'est l'histoire de son enfance et de sa famille que l'on découvre.

Exposition permanente de photos, de documents familiaux, des livres, cahiers de classe, et manuscrits de l'ancien Président.
