Mount Morgan is a town south of Rockhampton which takes its name from the nearby former gold mine. The township grew with the establishment of what was to become the richest gold mine in the world.
The etching uses gold flake in keeping with the importance of the mine. The Masonic Hall is listed with the National Trust of Queensland which ensures its protection.
