The Donkey Sanctuary of Aruba is open year round and allows and even encourages you to come in and feed and pet the donkeys. They take in and care for the wild donkeys that permeate the island. They rely on the tourists for feed and support.

The Donkey Sanctuary is on the North center of the island (Aruba).

The gate will be closed, this is okay, the gate needs to be closed to keep the donkeys from leaving, just go ahead and open it and go in, BUT remember to close the gate behind you.

Volunteers man the sanctuary and welcome you to enter, and as you come in you will see the donkeys all around the sanctuary. They are wild but still very friendly and will let you pet them.

There is a building with chairs and tables where you can sit down at and pet the donkeys from there, the donkeys are separated from you by steel bars which only allows their heads through.

The volunteers will gladly give you a little history about how the sanctuary came to be along with the history of some of the donkeys as well. They know them all by name and will be glad to give you little hints and tips about them.

They also have a running total of donkeys they feed and how much it takes to feed them. So if you can donate as well, may you be blessed for doing so.

We truly enjoyed our visit here and hope you will too!

Directions from their website as there is no address: Take route 4A from the hotels. At the Pizza Hut in Paradera take a left turn.
