A challenge: appropriating biodiversity

The focus of the project is to develop a participatory science program whose ultimate objective is to build a relationship between the company and its surrounding space (territory), around the management of common property, biodiversity. As the representations and perceptions that we have of the territory in which one lives determine one's identity, our goal is that citizens take ownership of their territory to be involved individually in the collective management of biodiversity.

Project partners hypothesize that it is through the establishment of a scientific culture program around the services provided by biodiversity that will be achieved a goal shared across the territory (inhabitants, communities all primary schools and two colleges). This program is developed on the Plain workshop area and Val de Sevre (South Deux Sevres) and Country Thouarsais (North Deux Sevres).

Un défi : s’approprier la biodiversité

L’axe central du projet est de développer un programme de science participative dont l’objectif ultime est de construire une relation entre la société et son espace environnant (le territoire), autour de la gestion d’un bien commun, la biodiversité. Comme les représentations et perceptions que l’on a du territoire dans lequel on vit déterminent l’identité de chacun, notre objectif est que les citoyens s’approprient leur territoire afin de s’impliquer individuellement dans la gestion collective de la biodiversité.

Les partenaires du projet formulent l’hypothèse que c’est par la mise en place d’un programme de culture scientifique autour des services rendus par la biodiversité que sera atteint un objectif partagé à l’échelle du territoire (habitants, collectivités, toutes les écoles primaires et les deux collèges). Ce programme est développé sur la zone atelier Plaine et Val de Sèvre (sud Deux-Sèvres) et en Pays Thouarsais (nord Deux-Sèvres).

Visitors should visit the Nature Center and post a photo of themselves (or GPS unit) either inside or outside of the nature center visited. Logs without photos WILL be allowed if a lenghty description of one's visit and a mention of what they learned is included.
