Das Johann Nestroy Denkmal wurde 1929 von Oskar Thiede geschaffen und stand ursprünglich vor dem Carl-Theater in der Praterstraße 31. 1942 wurde es abgebaut und entging dem Einschmelzen. Nach dem 2. Weltkrieg wurde es auf einem Schrottplatz gefunden und 1950 im Hof des Reinhardt-Seminars (Penzinger Straße 9) aufgestellt. 1983 wurde es erneut übersiedelt und steht seither vor dem Haus Zirkusgasse 2.

The Johann Nestroy memorial was made by Oskar Thiede in 1929 and was originally located in front of the Carl-Theater in Praterstraße 31. In 1942 it was removed and saved from melting down. After WW II it was found on a scrapyard and re-erected again in the courtyard of the Reinhardt-Seminar (Penzinger Straße 9). In 1983 it was moved again and is standing in front of the house Zirkusgasse 2 since then.
