This stone, on the E side of PA 281/WV 26, in 1860 was meant to mark the MD/PA/WV tri-point. It was 'demoted' to 'just' a 2-state border officially in 1910.

This stone is often referred to as the 'Michler Stone' as it was set by Lt. N. Michler of the US Corps of Topographic Engineers.
At this point, Preston County (WV) and Fayette County (PA) meet. This stone is (at this point erroneously) meant to mark the state tri-point of MD/PA/WV at it was believed to be located at the time of the 1860 survey of the N-S MD/WV line.
After a US Supreme Court decision in 1910, the official tri-state point has been at a spot 0.6 mi E of this stone.
