This wagon, built back in 1938, is a replica of the Communion Wagon used by the Voortrekkers. It is on permament display at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria.

This wagon illustrates the transition from the "jawbone" type to the "bok" type wagon. It retained the traditional jawbone ladders, but also had buck struts underneath the ladders on the sides. It also had railings on the sides, grids over the rear wheels, metal axles and an oscillating brake known as the "Natal" brake.
The top tent was removable.

S.P.(Fanie) Botha originally built this wagon, whereupon it was used during the Great Trek Centenary celebration in Heidelberg in 1938 and later at Covenant commemoration services.
It was donated to the Teachers Training College in the 1960s and finally placed here at the Voortrekker Monument. Erik Holm restored the wagon in 2003 and Elsabé Holm completed the traditional painting on the wagon.
