The congregation was formed on the 19th of October 1929 becoming the 3rd Dutch Reformed Congregation in Port Elizabeth. Originally the congregation was known as Port Elizabeth - South.

The cornerstone was laid on 5 August 1950 and on 27 Januarie 1951 the congregation moved in. The building can seat 600 people. In 1951 there was 1600 confirmed members. With new congregations starting being formed the numbers have dwindled to 345 in 2013
