Havezate Oldengaerde is one of the four manors, which have been in or near Dwingeloo.

The estate was Oldengaerde for 1420 in the possession of the family Van Echten. The house was build by Reynolt of Echten in the first half of the 15th century. Oldengaerde would be occupied for 240 years by members of this family. On the basis of their origin and their property were Nicholas of Echten in 1598 and Johan van Echten admitted in 1647 to the Knighthood of Drenthe.

Interior: among other important hall with marble floor and ¼ twisted staircase with wooden 'flat' balusters and marble stairs, door frame in Louis XV style, the large sideboard, marble fireplace with plaster and stucco ceiling with floral motifs; the front room with marble fireplace with plaster and stucco ceiling with floral motifs; kitchen with beamed ceiling, tiled floor, two 19th-century glass cabinets and a simple fire place with white tiles; the cellar with tiled floor. In general, the windows are covered with folding blinds and provided with a bench; the doors of broad sections are partly wooden.
