Auf dem Grab liegt eine Platte mit folgender Inschrift:
Hier liegt das schönste Pferd begraben
Das alle Tugenden vereint.
Könnt man mit Tieren Freundschaft haben,
So läge hier mein Freund.
Dieses Gedicht hat der Landgraf selber erdacht. Es handelt sich um sein Leibreitpferd (dessen Namen manchmal auch mit Magyar angegeben wird). Es soll keinen anderen Reiter als den Landgrafen auf sich geduldet haben. Landgraf Friedrich V. lebte von 1748 bis 1820 und regierte Homburg.
Es ist ein Kulturdenkmal.

On the tomb slab of this grave is written:
Here is buried the most beautiful horse
that all goodnesses combined.
If you could have friendship with animals,
then here would be buried a friend.
This poem was made by the landgrave himself. Landgrave Friedrich V. lived from 1748 until 1820 and reigned the city Homburg.
Madjar (or sometimes also written as Magyar) was the most favorited horse of the landgrave. This horse shall not have tolerated any other horseman than the landgrave himself. It was buried in 1773.
Today it is a cultural monument.
