Parajes que son emblema de la "Costa da Morte", donde siempre se acordará aquel 10 de noviembre do 1890 cuando naufraga el "Serpent" con 172 marinos de la Real Armada Británica. Escenario en el que están contabilizados mas de 150 naufragios.

Este faro se enclende en el año 11854, obras dirigidas por Alexandre de Olevarría, inicialmente ubicado en el alto de Vilán de Terra (restos de las estructuras en la parte alta, próxima a la entrada del actual faro) Pero en el año 1896 por problemas de señalización se reubica en la punta actual, en el vértice que mira a la isla de "Vilán de fora". Obra proyectada por los ingenieros Francisco Lizarraga y Adolfo Pequeño. Fue el primer faro eléctrico de España. Inicialmente era atendido por seis torreros más maquinista y fogonero. El foco se levanta a 24 metros sobre un farallón y a 104 mts sobre el nivel do mar. Edificio con taller de herrería, carbonería, depósitos, viviendas...

Este faro tiene presencia luminosa, acústica y radiofónica.
