The New Republic is a daily coming from the Resistance. The title was founded by Pierre Archambault and Jean Meunier .
Archambault is called to the direction of La Nouvelle République du Centre-Ouest at the Liberation of the city in 1944. He is 32 years old and his militant past of social Catholicism make it resistant Libération-Nord , (network " Confraternity of Our Lady of Castile "). He has little experience in the press, it's pre-war period in some newspapers . Until June 1972, he almost runs one direction according to his son , while he is not a majority financially .
