The sculpture displays a typical pose as she floats into the air. The sculpture itself honours the late P. L. Travers (her pen name, born Helen Lyndon Goff) an Australian-British novelist who wrote a series of children's books about the mystical and magical English nanny Mary Poppins.
Helen Goff was born in Maryborough in Queensland in 1899, moved to Allora (QLD) in 1905 then upon the death of her father, moved to Bowral in 1907 where she remained until 1917. She died in 1996.
