Golden Park, originally built in 1951, received a major facelift prior to the 1996 season, as it was used for the softball competition in the 1996 Olympic Games. The previous team to call Golden Park home were The RedStixx, a Cleveland Indians farm club. They moved to Eastlake, Ohio, for the 2003 season. However, the South Georgia Waves relocated from Albany just prior to the start of the season. They were renamed the Columbus Catfish for 2004. The Catfish, playing in the South Atlantic League, are a farm team for the LA Dodgers.
