The Wroclaw University of Economics evoluted from The Higher School of Trade and the Higher School of Economics. The institution was created in 1947 and nationalized three years later.
The idea was to establish a school following the model of the prestigious Lviv Academy of Foreign Trade. Its current name was conferred by the Polish Parliament in March 2008: Wroclaw University of Economics.
